PROCEDURE FOR THE REGISTRATION OF THE BIRTH OF CHILDREN WITH A FOREIGN BIRTH CERTIFICATE

Citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan born in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, or the Republic of Iceland, as well as children whose one or both parents are citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan, can be registered in Azerbaijan if a birth certificate is issued by the relevant authorities of the country of birth. The registration of these individuals in the Republic of Azerbaijan is carried out according to the following procedure:

To register the child, obtain a personal identification number (PIN), and determine Azerbaijani citizenship, the required documents listed below must be submitted to the Embassy after scheduling an appointment via the portal.

After the submission of the required documents to the Embassy, the child's registration will be completed within one month, and the individual will be provided with a PIN code and a certificate of citizenship. Following this procedure, it will be possible to apply to the Embassy for the issuance of the initial passport or to apply for the issuance of an identity card and passport in Azerbaijan.

Documents Required for Registration of Birth in Azerbaijan:

1. Application form;
2. Original birth certificate of the child (the birth certificate must be apostilled by the issuing country);
3. Notarized translation of the child’s birth certificate into Azerbaijani (translation and notarization can be done at the Embassy during the application process; state fee for notarization of translation – £10);
4. Original and copy of the parents' ID cards or passports;
5. Copies of the parents' birth certificates;
6. Copy of the parents' marriage certificate;

Note: There is no state fee for birth registration.

Documents Required to Determine Azerbaijani Citizenship:

1. Application form;
2. Two colored photographs (3x4 cm size) (required for the application form);
3. Copy of the child's birth certificate;
4. Copies of the parents' ID cards or passports;
5. State fee of £10 (payable by card at the time of application, cash payments are not accepted).

One of the parents may submit the required documents by scheduling an appointment via the portal: appontment.mfa.gov.az.
