UK to be Azerbaijan's main partner in green energy transition - Rishi Sunak

The UK will be Azerbaijan's main partner in the green energy transition, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said in a letter addressed to the participants of the 10th Global Baku Forum themed "The World of Today: Challenges and Hopes", Trend reports.

"The prospect of Azerbaijan supplying renewable electricity across the Black Sea represents a brighter future. I hope green transformation сan be accelerated in parallel with the expansion of gas supply through the Southern Corridor, British companies and institutions will continue to be key partners in Azerbaijan's energy transition," he said.

The PM noted that the experts from the UK contribute to the de-mining process in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan.

"I am proud that the UK continues to support women and civil society organizations who are playing a key role in reviving communities in Azerbaijan's returned territories. British experts will work alongside yours as you make resettled areas safe from mines and unexploded ordnance. United Nations agencies also play an important role and I encourage you to sign key non-proliferation texts such as the Ottawa Convention," the letter noted.

Organized by the Nizami Ganjavi International Center, under the patronage of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, the X Global Baku Forum has today kicked off. The forum’s topic this year is "The World of Today: Challenges and Hopes".

The X Forum, which will last until March 11, is attended by high-ranking guests from dozens of countries, among them current and former heads of states and governments, prominent public and political figures, leading foreign experts, the leadership of the World Health Organization, the League of Arab States, and other major international organizations.
