London, March 22, AZERTAC

Students of the British European Azerbaijani School (BEAS) operating in London have celebrated the Novruz holiday.

At the event, organized at the Embassy of Azerbaijan in London and dedicated to both Novruz and Ramadan holidays, the school’s students presented a rich festive program.

The event’s host and school representative, Rauf Khalilov, provided guests with information about the school’s activities. He also expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Elin Suleymanov, the school’s founder, Tale Heydarov, and the school’s directors, Sabina Rakcheyeva and Sabina Guliyeva.

Students Nazrin Gadimova and Sevinj Bakhishova, under the guidance of their teachers, recited poems dedicated to Novruz. The dance “Nakhchivan,” choreographed by Sima Manafli, was warmly received by the audience. In addition, the students performed musical pieces and presented various national dances.

During the event, international competition laureate and Presidential scholarship holder Vusala Babayeva (a teacher at the school), Honored Artist of Azerbaijan and renowned tar player Rafig Rustamov, and BEAS representative Rauf Khalilov performed national music pieces, creating an enjoyable atmosphere for the guests.

As part of the celebration, key Novruz attributes such as semeni (sprouted wheat), candles, and national decorative elements were displayed. Guests were treated to Azerbaijani national sweets, including pakhlava and shekerbura. An exhibition of artworks created by the school’s students was also organized.

The British European Azerbaijani School currently provides education for children up to 12 years old, with classes held on Sundays. The school plays an important role in teaching the native language, history, and culture to children of Azerbaijani families living in London.
